If you were affected by the January 2024 severe storms, you can AUGUSTA, MAINE —Maine Emergency Management Agency (MEMA) will fully activate the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on Saturday and Sunday as Hurricane Lee tracks northward in the Atlantic Ocean. Following the National Hurricane Center’s 11 AM ET update today, the hurricane watch has been dropped for Maine. However, the tropical storm warning has expanded to cover most of Maine except the westernmost interior portions of the state.
Now is the time to prepare. Safety precautions you can take include:
- Bring in all outdoor furniture, decorations, garbage cans, birdfeeders, and anything else that could become airborne.
- Ensure generators are properly installed, fueled, and in good working order while located at least 15 feet from your home and not in an enclosed area.
- Roads may be water covered due to flash flooding or storm surge. Do not drive through flooded roadways. Do not drive around barricades.
- Determine local evacuation routes and identify alternate shelter locations in case you need to evacuate.
