MaineDOT announces preservation efforts and a new preferred alternative for replacement. More information is available on the project's News page.

June 2022

MaineDOT Held an in-person Public Meeting updating the public on the study and presented a bridge alternative as a bridge replacement, MaineDOT later changed the preferred alternative to a structure with continued use of fully gated culverts.   • New legal guidance: MaineDOT/FHWA could compensate landowners impacted by flooding from the project; and
  • Town of Machias Flood Project could directly impact the culverts/bridge and Route 1 and needs consideration in the design
