Notice - An Act to Establish Lifetime Ferry Passes for Retired Maine State Ferry Service Employees
This notice is for all former state employees who are receiving retirement benefits after at least 15 years of employment with the Maine State Ferry Service and who are a year-round resident of one of the served islands of the Maine State Ferry Service:
On June 10, 2025 Governor Mills signed “The Act to Establish Lifetime Ferry Passes for Retired Maine State Ferry Service Employees”, which went into effect on 24 September 2025. If you feel that you are eligible for this benefit, please contact the ferry terminal on your island. Please note that time for employment as an intermittent employee is based on total hours worked rather than calendar years.
