Aquatic Invasive Species Inspection Training for Bass Clubs

Since 2020, all bass clubs have been required to participate in standardized training on aquatic invasive species inspections. These trained inspectors are required to conduct inspections on all watercraft associated with a tournament both upon launch and retrieval of the watercraft.

All clubs need to provide documentation along with their affidavit that at least four members have participated in an aquatic invasive species inspection training program endorsed by the Department within the last three years.

Since May 2026, all watercraft inspection data is required to be submitted via an electronic data entry system within five days of the bass tournament. Submitted inspection data can be checked or viewed on the Maine Bass Tournament Inspection Dashboard. Instructions on how to get and use the electronic data entry system can be found below. Paper forms may be used to record data during tournaments, but must be transferred by clubs to the electronic data entry system for submission.

These changes help to standardize tournament inspections and reinforce the commitment MDIFW and the clubs have made to be good stewards and set a higher standard that reflects positively on our respective organizations.
