Maine Warden Service Pilot Plays Critical Role in Locating Two Young Missing Boys
By Game Warden Megan Miller On Wednesday, July 18, several local game wardens responded to the lower end of Mattawamkeag Lake, to search for two young boys who had wandered away from their family’s camp. Because the search area included large tracts of woods, Maine Warden Service aircraft were also sent to aid in the search.

Northern Maine First Responders Receive New Airboat For Emergencies And Natural Disasters
The Maine Warden Service and first responders in northern Maine received a new airboat to deploy during emergencies and natural disasters. This is the only airboat asset in all of northern Maine, an area the size of both New Jersey and Connecticut. The area encompasses all of Aroostook County and parts of northern Piscataquis and Penobscot Counties. The airboat was purchased new earlier this year from Diamondback Airboats located in Florida.

Nine pair of genuine, Maine-made snowshoes were donated to the newest graduating class of game wardens to use in their missions that range from fish and wildlife conservation, search and rescue and public safety. These aren’t just any pair of snowshoes, these are the best in the business.

National Safe Boating Week is a great way to kick off what will be a fun and safe summer on the water. From May 20 - 26, 2017, the Maine Warden Service, Maine Marine Patrol and the U.S. Coast Guard ask boaters to pay EXTRA attention to their boating safety behaviors, and to especially ALWAYS wear their lifejackets.

Fifteen Wounded Heroes, veterans and their families attended Saturday’s free event that focused on good food, good laughs and catching a few Maine brook trout.
