Maine Medical Center recognized by Maine EMS-C in the "Always Ready for Children" program

The Maine EMS for Children program is excited to share that Maine Medical Center has been recognized in the "Always Ready for Children" program as a Pediatric Innovator. MMC is the first hospital recognized in Maine for this award, and also achieved the highest level award. Clinicians and hospital leaders worked with Maine EMS-C to conduct an extensive review of national guidelines and metrics.

The "Always Ready for Children" program is a collaborative effort between every state in New England, New York, and New Jersey with 3 levels of recognition. It is voluntary and represents a commitment to the pediatric patients in Maine.

MMC is the first hospital in Maine to be recognized at the highest level, Pediatric Innovator, for its commitment to caring for pediatric patients experiencing medical and traumatic emergencies.

Our goal and hope is to have more hospitals across Maine join this effort to help ensure excellence in pediatric care, and are working with the Maine Chapter, American Academy of Pediatrics with an ambassador program to promote and support hospitals achieving this recognition (contact Marc Minkler at marc.a.minkler@maine.gov for more info).
