At 12:00 am on Monday, December 1, 2025, the updated 2025 Maine EMS Prehospital Treatment Protocols will go into effect. EMS clinicians must discontinue usage of the 2023 Maine EMS Prehospital Treatment Protocols at that time.
To continue to provide prehospital EMS care with a licensed EMS agency, ALL EMS clinicians licensed as EMR, EMT, Advanced EMT, or Paramedic must complete the protocol education before responding or participating in any EMS calls on or after December 1, 2025.
Several live sessions were held, but clinicians can still complete the education 24/7 via MEMSEd by logging in at https://learningportal.memsed.org/
The 2025 Maine EMS Prehospital Treatment Protocols can be located on the Maine EMS website at https://www.maine.gov/ems/protocols-resources/pre-hospital-care-protocols
Note that Maine EMS no longer prints copies of the protocols but encourages EMS agencies to consider printing copies to be available for reference at their agencies and on EMS vehicles.
The free Maine EMS protocol app, available on the Google Play store for Android users and in the App store for Apple users will be updated on or about midnight on December 1, 2025. When you open the app, it may prompt you to update the app, or you may need to perform this manually by using the circular arrow in the top corner of the app, or through your device’s application update program.
When you complete the update, please ensure you have a stable internet connection and do not interrupt this process.
In case of any further difficulties, try restarting your device, and you may need to delete the app and reinstall the app.
If you have further questions, please reach out to Maine EMS at maine.ems@maine.gov
