One Lane Closed on I-95 Northbound in Augusta

Augusta ? A tractor trailer carrying US mail has overturned at mile 114 northbound on I-95. One lane of travel is currently open. Motorists should expect delays.

Crews at the scene continue to wait for another federal truck to arrive so the off-loading of the cargo can begin. Once the load is transferred, the overturned truck will be set upright. During that process, State Police will close both lanes of travel northbound until the truck can be safely towed away.

The detour will direct traffic to Exit 113 onto Route 104 then back to I-95 at Exit 120.

TRACTOR TRAILER ROLLOVER IN COBURN GORE

From the Department of Public Safety:

A tractor trailer carrying paper has rolled over on Route 27 in Coburn Gore, south of border crossing into Quebec.

The truck collided with a bridge as State Police, MaineDOT Bridge Inspectors & DEP are currently on scene.

Commercial Traffic was stopped and held at the port of entry for about 1 hour until the DOT Bridge could clear access over the bridge. That has now just been cleared and traffic is rolling again.

Crash on I-295 Southbound in Brunswick

Brunswick ? Due to a crash at mile 26 in Brunswick on I-295 southbound, travel has been reduced to one lane.

Because debris is scattered across the highway, one lane has also been closed northbound.

Motorists traveling in the area will experience significant delays as one lane both north and southbound are closed.

Emergency personnel are on the scene and expect delays for some time.

Motorists are advised to seek an alternate route.

MaineDOT Commissioner Named President of National Transportation Organization

Boston - Maine Department of Transportation Commissioner David B. Bernhardt, PE, has been chosen by the Board of Directors of AASHTO (American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials) to serve as its next president for 2017.

AASHTO is a nonprofit, nonpartisan association representing highway and transportation departments in the fifty states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. Its primary goal is to foster the development, operation and maintenance of an integrated national transportation system.

New Traffic Signal Operational in Augusta

Augusta - The new traffic signal at the intersection of Civic Center Dr. (Rte. 27), Darin Dr. and the newly relocated Blue Star Avenue in Augusta was put into operation on Monday, November 21st.

The Contractor, McGee Construction, was a week and a half ahead of schedule. The newly relocated Blue Star Avenue now provides access at the signal to the Comfort Inn and 99 Restaurant approaching from Belgrade off of Route 27.

Repairs to Jonesport/Beals Island Bridge to Begin

Jonesport ? The Jonesport-Beals Island Bridge will undergo repairs to its fender system following an incident on December 7th in which a marine vessel struck the bridge.

Crews will be repairing and retrofitting portions of the bridge?s fender system which helps to absorb impacts of this nature.

All work will be done during daylight hours beginning on Monday, December 19.

While there will be no impact to motorists, the channel will be restricted during the time work is performed.

It is anticipated all work will be completed within the first week of January, 2017.
