The Fund for Efficient Delivery of Educational Services (FEDES), as established by Title 20-A MRS Chapter 114-A, and in accordance to Department of Education Rule Chapter 122, was created to assist in financing the cost of local and regional initiatives to improve educational opportunity and student achievement through more efficient delivery of educational programs and services. The Legislature has provided $10 million for the Fund; $5 million in 2017-18, and $5 million in 2018-19.

2018-19 - RFP # 201806118 - Fund for the Efficient Delivery of Educational Services
A total of 17 project proposals were received by the Department, 4 projects were conditionally awarded, and contracts will be negotiated and funded for those projects in response to RFP #201806118 for the Fund for the Efficient Delivery of Educational Services (FEDES) grant, which was made available to districts in July 2018. Down East Maine Career and Technical Education (CTE) Collaborative
This project will support the expansion of career and technical education programming opportunities to western Washington County. The project aims to increase student enrollment in CTE programs at the high school level, provide introductory and exploratory sessions for middle school students, and includes an adult education CTE component.

Valley Unified Learning Transformed
This project will support three components for the Valley Unified Integrated, Consolidated 9-16 Educational Facility: the merger of software systems that feed into the common student information and payroll/accounting systems; a comprehensive enrollment study, educational visioning, concept approval, and site approval; and develop programming options that link regional workforce needs to the regional education goals.
