The Maine Adult Education system provides English language acquisition programming designed to help English language learners achieve competence in reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension of the English language.
Programming includes integrated English language and civics education which will enable adults who are English language learners to achieve competency in the English language and acquire the basic and more advanced skills needed to function effectively as parents, workers, and citizens in the United States. Learners receive instruction in English and on the rights and responsibilities of citizenship and civic participation. These services may also include workforce training for employment in in-demand industries and occupations that lead to economic self-sufficiency.
