The Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching (PAEMST) are the nation's highest honors for teachers of mathematics and science. Awardees serve as models for their colleagues, inspiration to their communities, and leaders in the improvement of mathematics and science education.
Ninety-nine math and science teachers from Maine have received a PAEMST since the 1983 start of the national program. View a list of Maine award winners. The award alternates each year between honoring teachers of grades K-6 and 7-12.
The Maine Department of Education coordinates this award at the state level.
