Assessment security is essential for obtaining reliable and valid assessment data that supports informed decision-making and student outcomes in Maine schools. Accordingly, the Maine Department of Education takes appropriate measures to ensure the security and confidentiality of the state assessment materials. District Assessment Coordinators and School Assessment Coordinators are responsible for providing training to all personnel involved in assessment to ensure a common understanding of security and appropriate assessment practices.
The 2025-2026 Maine Educational Assessment Security Handbook provides general expectations of the Maine DOE for the administration of statewide assessments.
