Maine Warden Service Notes From The Field: February 2016
Division A (Gray): Game Warden Pierre has been working ice fishing activity and reports that ice conditions are poor at best; note photograph depicting anglers on Sebago Lake in a watercraft.
Division B (Sidney): Several Division B game wardens and many others attended this year’s Special Olympics held at Sugarloaf Mountain. Game wardens have been participating in this event for decades and the experience for both the athletes and game wardens is life changing.
Division C (Bangor): Game Warden Alan Curtis handled a sled crash in Township 35 where a man hit a large rock in the trail and went airborne landing on his feet and shattering a leg. Life Flight landed at the Wood Chopping Ridge pump station; Eddington Fire responded with their rescue toboggan.
Division D (Greenville): Game Wardens Jonathan Parker and Chad Robertson observed two anglers depart on their ATVs and left their fishing lines unattended on Lake Wesserunset Lake in Madison. The wardens observed the men leave their traps unattended for nearly half an hour. Both anglers were advised of their violations which included unattended lines and operating an unregistered ATV.
Division E (Ashland): Game Warden Alan Dudley has had a very busy month with snowmobile enforcement and recently responded to a call of a snowmobile fatality in New Sweden. The investigation lasted two days and he covered two other snowmobile crashes that day as well. He was called out again that evening regarding a snowmobile that had broken down on the trail. Game Warden Dudley is shown here using forensic mapping equipment used to help reconstruct the crash scene of last month’s New Sweden fatal crash.
