Specific programs include: the Maine Regional Library System (consultant services, direct free walk-in service, interlibrary loan, and federal and state aid for public libraries), special services (books-by-mail, video services, talking books and large print books), school library/ media services, Maine InfoNet, and electronic database licensing.
Maine Online Learning Program - Providing high-quality educational options for kindergarten to grade 12 students in this State using online learning programs and courses. By developing a list of approved online learning providers, the Department will create a resource for school administrators seeking to offer online learning opportunities for their students.
Title IID - The Maine Department of Education in 2005 to chose to direct its Title IID competitive grants toward adopting the eMINTS model of professional development for integrating technology in teaching and learning. eMINTS is a fitting companion to the MLTI technology integration training. Title IID ARRA funds awarded to Maine are being dedicated to researching Open Educational Resources in nine content areas and creating professional development program in four content areas.
Maine State Erate - Supporting connectivity - the conduit or pipeline for communications using telecommunications services and/or the Internet. The program is administered by the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) under the direction of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC), and provides discounts to assist most schools and libraries in the United States to obtain affordable telecommunications technology and Internet access.
