Route 9 Paving Work in Wales, Monmouth, and Litchfield

KENNEBEC COUNTY - The Maine Department of Transportation will be doing paving work and making other improvements along Route 9 in Wales, Monmouth, and Litchfield. The work area begins in Wales, at the Sabattus town line, and extends north for approximately 7.5 miles through Monmouth and into part of Litchfield. This will be daytime work and will involve some alternating, one-lane traffic patterns. Construction is scheduled to run from May 10th through June 30th. The contractor for this work is All States Materials Group, headquartered in Sunderland, Massachusetts.

Night Work Next Week on Route 1 in Yarmouth

YARMOUTH - There will be night construction work next week as part of the ongoing project to replace the two bridges that carry I-295 over Route 1 near Exit 17 in Yarmouth. Crews will work between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. from Sunday, May 15th through Friday, May 20th. Route 1 traffic will be reduced to a single lane of alternating traffic. Nearby residents should expect loud noise and vibrations.

I-95 Northbound Ramp Closures at Exit 133 in Fairfield

FAIRFIELD - The Maine Department of Transportation will be closing the Exit 133 on- and off-ramps on the northbound side of I-95 in Fairfield Sunday night into Monday morning to accommodate guardrail replacement work. The ramp closures will occur between 9:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 15th and 6:00 a.m. on Monday, May 16th. The work is not expected to take the entire nine hours.

Paving Work in Lewiston and Auburn

ANDROSCOGGIN COUNTY - The Maine Department of Transportation will be doing paving work and making draining improvements on Russell Street and the Veterans Memorial Bridge in Lewiston and Auburn. The project area begins on Mount Auburn Avenue at Turner Street, extends for nearly 2.5 miles across Veterans Memorial Bridge, continues down Russell Street, and ends at Sabattus Street. Work is scheduled to begin on May 15th and be finished by June 24th. Drivers should expect alternating, single-lane traffic patterns and ramp closures.

Roadway and Intersection Improvements on Route 4 in Auburn

AUBURN - The Maine Department of Transportation is making roadway and intersection improvements along part of Route 4 in Auburn. The work area begins just south of Oak Hill Road and continues northerly for approximately half a mile, including intersections with Oak Hill Road, Lillian Street, Turner Street, Martin Street, Fair Street, and the public boat launch. Work started on May 16th and is scheduled to continue through June 2023. This will be day work. Work may also be done on Saturdays. During construction, drivers may encounter lane restrictions.

Cooks Corner Exit Ramp Closures on Route 1 in Brunswick

BRUNSWICK - The Maine Department of Transportation will be replacing the railroad crossing at Cooks Corner in Brunswick this weekend. This work will require the closure of the Route 1 exit ramps at Cooks Corner. The ramps will be closed from 8:00 p.m. on Friday, May 20th until Sunday, May 22nd.

Maine Track Maintenance of Fairfield and McGee Construction of West Gardiner will be assisting MaineDOT with this work. The cost to the department is $151,000.

Mills Administration Announces $5-million Maine Jobs & Recovery Plan To Connect Workers and Employers Through Shared Transportation

AUGUSTA - The Maine Department of Transportation today announced the launch of a Workforce Transportation Pilot program, an initiative of Governor Janet Mills' Maine Jobs & Recovery Plan, to pursue and develop transportation solutions that connect workers with employers across Maine.

Due to the economic consequences of the pandemic, many Maine workers and businesses are having to look farther afield to meet their needs - employers to find qualified employees and people to find job opportunities that match their skills.

Road Work Resumes on Kennedy Memorial Drive in Waterville

WATERVILLE - The Maine Department of Transportation has resumed paving work and making other repairs on part of Kennedy Memorial Drive in Waterville. The project area runs approximately 1.7 miles between West River Road (at Messalonskee Stream) and First Park. This project involves paving work, road construction, drainage improvements, and some sidewalk rehabilitation. Work began last June. The project is scheduled to be finished by June 30th.

Route 202 Work Resumes in Gorham and Windham

CUMBERLAND COUNTY - The Maine Department of Transportation is resuming the work on Route 202 in Gorham and Windham that began last July. The project area begins at the intersection of Routes 202 and 25 in Gorham and extends north on Route 202 for almost four miles, ending at Mechanic Street in Windham. Most of the work this year will occur near the Windham end of the project. Crews will be paving as well as making improvements to sidewalks and pedestrian ramps. Travel lanes will be narrowed, and drivers may encounter an alternating single-lane traffic pattern at times.

Hampden Bridge Bundle Traffic Shifting to New Southbound Interstate Bridges

HAMPDEN - As part of the ongoing work on the Hampden Bridge Bundle Project, the Maine Department of Transportation will begin shifting I-95 traffic to the new southbound bridges next week.

On Tuesday, May 24th, southbound interstate traffic will be shifted to the newly constructed East Bridge over the Souadabscook Stream. Interstate speed limits will be reduced to 55 MPH throughout the work zone. Drivers should drive carefully, observe signage, and obey speed limits while passing through work zones. The safety of work crews is MaineDOT's top priority.
