KINGFIELD - The Maine Department of Transportation will be performing highway rehabilitation work along part of Routes 16 and 27 in Kingfield. The project area begins at the intersection of High Street and extends north for approximately 2.3 miles, ending three-quarters of a mile north of Tufts Pond Road. This project involves paving work as well as drainage and safety improvements. We will also be replacing and adding sidewalks.
On Monday, November 9th, crews will begin a few weeks of excavation work. Because of the limited daylight hours, that work will happen between 7:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Once this excavation work is finished, work on this project will be suspended until the spring. When work resumes next year, work hours for this project will be between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Drivers should expect a single-lane traffic pattern, controlled by flaggers. The estimated completion date for this project is October 1st, 2022.
The contractor on this project is Sargent Corporation of Stillwater. The contract amount is $9,168,952.
