Work on the Margaret Chase Smith Bridges in Skowhegan

SKOWHEGAN - The Maine Department of Transportation will begin working on the North and South Margaret Chase Smith Bridges in Skowhegan on July 7th. The bridges carry Routes 2 and 201 over the Kennebec River. The construction area will run from the intersection of Madison Avenue and Water Street south along Island Avenue to the intersection of West Front Street and Waterville Road. Crews will be replacing bridge wearing surfaces and joints. They will also be doing work on the sidewalks and barriers as well as repaving the entire roadway. All work will be done at night (9:00 p.m.

Bridge Replacement in Oxford County

SUMNER - The Maine Department of Transportation will begin working to replace the Heald Bridge in Sumner on July 8th. The Heald Bridge carries Redding Road over the West Branch of the Nezinscot River. The bridge will close on July 15th. Redding Road will be closed to traffic at the bridge for no longer than 75 days. There will be a detour of several miles. The contractor on this work is Wyman & Simpson, Inc. out of Richmond. We expect the bridge replacement to be finished in November.

Road Surface Work in Franklin and Somerset Counties

FRANKLIN AND SOMERSET COUNTIES - The Maine Department of Transportation will begin work to maintain the surfaces of Routes 2 and 4 in Franklin and Somerset Counties on July 22nd. This work is scheduled to be finished by August 8th. The work will begin on Route 2 in Mercer. Crews will begin sealing cracks about one-third of a mile east of Claude Brewer Road. The work area will extend approximately seven miles east to Upper Main Street in Norridgewock. Once work is finished on Route 2, crews will begin sealing cracks on Route 4.

Road Work To Begin in South Portland and Scarborough

CUMBERLAND COUNTY - The Maine Department of Transportation will be making safety improvements along Route 701 in South Portland and Scarborough beginning on July 7th. Crews will be doing paving, guardrail, and median work along a nearly-two-mile-long stretch of road. Work will be done at night (between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.) from Sunday nights through Saturday mornings. Traffic may be reduced to one lane at times, and exit ramps may be closed between 9:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m. during construction. Pike Industries, Inc.

Augusta Bridge Repair Work

AUGUSTA - The Maine Department of Transportation will be doing overnight bridge repair work in Augusta between July 14th and 17th. Beginning at 9:00 p.m. on July 14th, MaineDOT crews will be doing repair work on the Augusta Interchange Bridge; this work will last one or two nights. When that work is finished, crews will begin working on the Memorial Bridge; that work will last two nights. Drivers should expect one-way alternating traffic patterns during the overnight work hours.

Bridge Work and Route 1 Paving, Northbound and Southbound, Brunswick, Bath & Woolwich

BATH - The Maine Department of Transportation will begin two major projects in the Bath/Brunswick/Woolwich area. Bridge wearing surface repairs to the Sagadohoc Bridge (#6388) located on the Bath and Woolwich town line will begin on Tuesday July 9, 2019. In addition, highway rehabilitation, drainage work, and tree removal will occur on US Route 1, northbound and southbound, beginning at the Cooks Corner Interchange in Brunswick and extending 5.18 miles east to the Bath Viaduct. All work will take place at night, beginning as early as 7pm and ending by 6am.

Closure of I-295 northbound passing lane in Topsham

Topsham - The Maine Department of Transportation will be making repairs to the Androscoggin River Bridge on I-295 in Topsham at mile marker 30. Beginning Monday July 15, northbound traffic will be reduced to one lane while the contractor repairs bridge joints. Each lane is expected to see a one and half week closure at alternating times, leaving one remaining travel lane open to traffic. Crews plan to begin with closure of the left passing lane. This work is scheduled to last until August 3rd, though work is weather dependent so the schedule is subject to change.

Culvert Replacement Work in New Sharon

NEW SHARON - The Maine Department of Transportation will be replacing a culvert that runs underneath Farmington Falls Road (Routes 2 and 27) in New Sharon. The work area is 1.5 miles west of the intersection of Route 134. Drivers should expect a one-lane alternating traffic pattern beginning on July 18th. Emory Lee & Sons Inc of Millinocket is the contractor on this work, which is expected to be finished in November.

Paving Work in Gorham

GORHAM - The Maine Department of Transportation is doing paving work and safety improvements in Gorham along Route 112 and through several intersections. The work area stretches nearly 3.5 miles. It begins at the intersection of Routes 25 and 112 and extends southeast, passing through the intersection of Routes 112 and 202, and ends at the intersection of Routes 112 and 114. The work area includes the roundabouts where Route 112 intersects Routes 25, 202, and 114. The work is being done Monday through Friday between the hours of 8:00 p.m. and 6:30 a.m.

Culvert Replacement Work in Limington

LIMINGTON - The Maine Department of Transportation will be replacing a culvert on Route 117 in Limington. The work area is about a half-mile east of Deer Ridge Road. Construction will begin on July 17th. Work times will be Monday through Saturday, from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Drivers should expect an alternating one-way traffic pattern during construction hours. This project is expected to be finished by July 27th.
