Belgrade Lakes Route 27 Project to Begin

Belgrade Lakes - Work on the reconstruction of Route 27 in Belgrade Lakes Village begins Monday, April 16.

The project includes widening the road, re-configuring the intersection of Route 27 and West Road for improved safety, installing a closed drainage system of pipes and catch basins including water quality structures which will permanently minimize runoff into the lakes, rebuilding the sidewalk on the Long Pond side of the street, adding new sidewalk in places on the Great Pond side of the street; as well as installing new pedestrian lighting.

Work this spring includes tree removal and utility work with the installation of new poles and the transfer of wires; all of which will be completed by the end of June. Flaggers will maintain one-lane of alternating traffic when necessary and motorists should plan for delays. Work will be suspended during July and August.

Pratt and Sons of Mechanic Falls was awarded the $2.6 million contract for this work which will resume September 4 and continue until winter suspension.
