Contractor Bulletin Board Requirements

Required State and Federal Posters

All prime contractors are responsible for establishing, displaying, and maintaining a project bulletin board containing all required labor law posters and project notices.

The bulletin board must:

  • Be installed on the first day of construction activity and remain in place until the project is complete.
  • Be located at the active project site in a prominent location that is readily visible and accessible to employees and the public.
  • Be available for viewing at all times.
  • Be enclosed or otherwise protected from the weather to prevent damage to the required postings.
  • Be maintained throughout the project by replacing damaged, outdated, or missing posters and ensuring that all required project-specific notices remain current.

For projects funded solely with state funds, the bulletin board must include all required Maine labor law posters.

For federally funded projects, the bulletin board must include all required Maine labor law posters, all applicable federal labor law posters, the current contract wage determination, and any other project-specific notices required by the contract documents.

To assist contractors, the MaineDOT Civil Rights Office (CRO) has developed a bulletin board layout diagram and checklist that may be used to verify that all required posters and notices are included and properly displayed.
