Maine Learning Results Taskforce

MLR Taskforce Banner

The Maine Department of Education has convened the Maine Learning Results Taskforce to guide a comprehensive, statewide review of Maine’s academic standards. The Taskforce brings together educators, leaders, and community representatives from across the state to examine how the Learning Results can best support high-quality, equitable, and future-ready learning for all Maine students.

Purpose

Established under Legislative Resolve LD 1701, (this is also attached incase that is easier for you) the Maine Learning Results Taskforce is charged with conducting a comprehensive review and re-envisioning of Maine’s PK–12 Learning Results over the next two years.

The Taskforce’s work is designed to:

  • Examine the purpose, structure, and efficacy of Maine’s learning standards;
  • Ensure that the Learning Results reflect how students learn and align with the latest research from the science of learning and development;
  • Strengthen coherence across standards, curriculum, assessment, and professional learning;
  • Promote equity, relevance, and multiple pathways for student success; and
  • Honor and integrate Maine’s cultural, historical, and community contexts, including the representation of Wabanaki Studies and diverse perspectives.

Through an inclusive, research-informed, and collaborative process, the Taskforce will build shared understanding about the role of standards in supporting meaningful learning for all students and develop recommendations to guide the future of the Maine Learning Results.
