Coming Soon: Maine Professional Training and Certificate (PTC) Program
The PTC Program is designed to create certificate pathways for Maine’s direct care workforce. This includes universal core training required of all direct care workers and certificate pathways for Behavioral Health Professionals (BHPs), Direct Support Professionals (DSPs), and Direct Service Workers (DSWs). These trainings qualify direct care providers for work in services for children and adults in a variety of residential, home, school, community and other settings receiving MaineCare reimbursement. The program is currently under development with an anticipated availability date of early 2027.

DSP, PSS, MHRT, CRMA Training Resources
The following trainings can be accessed (with assistance through the agency that employs you) in order to obtain proper credentials to work as a provider.
- Completion of Maine CDS is required for Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) supporting Maine citizens with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Maine College of Direct Support
- Maine CDS will be archived in 2027 upon transition to the PTC Program

- Approved Behavior Interventions Procedures training must include positive behavior support, crisis intervention strategies, and de-escalation training. Providers are responsible for developing the training to meet the needs of the individual and meet agency policy. Acceptable training may be found in this list
