June 3, 2026: Special Places in York and How We Can Protect Them

Beginning with Habitat Climate Coordinator Corinne Michaud-LeBlanc will present information about Focus Areas of Statewide Ecological Significance, highlighting the three distinct Focus Areas in York Land Trust's service area. Join us online to learn more about the unique features and species in the Focus Areas, and conservation actions we can all take part in to keep these special places healthy and resilient.

June 10, 2026: Stronger Communities Summit

Beginning with Habitat staff will be tabling at the Stronger Communities Summit in Orono on June 10th.
Across Maine, communities are taking practical steps to address climate change-improving energy efficiency, upgrading public buildings, and preparing for climate impacts.
Join the Community Resilience Partnership on June 10 at the Wells Conference Center at UMaine for a statewide summit highlighting local efforts from municipalities, Tribal communities, islands, and partners. Through peer exchange and discussions of practical case studies, participants will gain insight into designing effective solutions, overcoming implementation challenges, and sustaining long-term positive change.

April 24, 2024: Coastal Habitat Conservation for Climate Resilience (for coastal communities)
Corinne Michaud-LeBlanc, Climate Coordinator for Maine Department of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife's Beginning with Habitat program will provide an overview of conservation planning tools and strategies for a changing climate, and suggestions for how to use them. This presentation will highlight salt marsh ecosystems and salt marsh sparrows. Pete Slovinsky, Marine Geologist with Maine Geological Survey, will discuss how climate change is impacting vulnerable dune habitat in the state, and recommend conservation actions for communities with this habitat.
Please join us for this free Zoom event focused on long-term planning tools and strategies that support natural solutions for resilient habitat. These virtual Casco Bay Coastal Academy (CBCA) workshops are brought to you by Casco Bay Estuary Partnership, Maine Sea Grant, and R1CC. CBCA aims to build the knowledge base of municipal board members and staff about critical coastal issues and provide skills training to support their project planning and implementation. The workshops are especially targeted to municipal staff, volunteer committee members, community leaders, and organizations providing services to municipalities. Everyone is welcome!

May 8, 2024: Inland Habitat Conservation for Climate Resilience (for inland communities)
