Augusta - Over the past twenty months, the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT), the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) and a local Bridge Advisory Committee have reviewed alternatives for the renewal of the Route 175 crossing over the Salt Pond in Blue Hill.

Arundel - Construction is slated to begin on Rte. 111 in Arundel on March 5th, 2019. The work, being done by Shaw Brothers Construction Inc. of Gorham, Maine, will include the construction of a passing lane on the northerly side of Rte. 111 and realignment of Old Alfred Road into New Road for improved intersection safety and drainage. The work zone will begin near the Drews Mills Road and extend east for approximately a mile.

Though warming temperatures are a welcome relief for many Maine residents, they also signal the start of road postings across the state. MaineDOT is encouraging businesses to check its website, mainedot.gov, for a current listing of state and state-aid posted roads as well as an interactive map that shows the posting status. For local roads, it is best to contact the municipality to determine any restrictions.

Dixfield – Reconstruction activities on Rt. 2 in Dixfield will be restarting on March 25th. The reconstruction is designed to upgrade the roadway, allowing for smoother, safer travel. When complete, nearly 3 miles will have been reconstructed, from the intersection of Rt. 2 with the Hall Hill Road, extending east to just beyond the Canton Point Road intersection. Construction will require some lane closures, controlled by flaggers.

The work, being performed by Pratt and Sons, Inc. is expected to be complete on October 28th, 2019.

Kittery – A peregrine falcon nesting platform will be removed and a new nesting box placed on the I-95 bridge connecting Kittery, ME with Portsmouth, NH, on Thursday, March 21st. The relocation will necessitate a lane closure on the southbound driving lane from 10:00 am to approximately 1:00 pm.

Pittsfield - Motorists are being advised of possible traffic interruptions on I-95 northbound and North Main Street in Pittsfield as bridge work is slated to begin on March 21st. The bridge, which carries I-95 northbound traffic over North Main Street in Pittsfield is being rehabilitated by Scott Construction Corporation of Portland, ME.

Sapling TWP - Starting on April 1st, a bridge in Sapling TWP (Somerset County) that carries Rt.s 6/15 over the Central Maine & Quebec Railway line is being removed and replaced. The work will necessitate a slight detour; traffic will be diverted to the east side of the construction site and an at-grade railroad crossing with signals will be constructed to carry the detoured traffic over the rail lines.

The bridge replacement is being performed by T Buck Construction, Inc. of Turner and is expected to be complete by June of 2020.

Belgrade - Work has once again begun on Rt. 27 in Belgrade Village. The work started today is expected to be completed by June 28, 2019. Should delays occur, the completion date will be pushed to October 19, 2019. No work will be allowed in the months of July and August and work will be suspended over Memorial Day Weekend.

WASHINGTON COUNTY - Beginning on April 8th, the Maine Department of Transportation will be doing road reconstruction and rehabilitation work to improve safety on Route 1 in the towns of Jonesboro, Whitneyville, and Machias in Washington County. The work will be from a point just north of the Whitneyville Road and extend a little more than three miles north to a point just past the Whitneyville/Machias town line. Lane restrictions are expected to create minor delays between 6:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. on weekdays.

ANDOVER - The Maine Department of Transportation is doing bridge work on Route 120 in Andover in Oxford County. The bridge crosses the West Branch Ellis River. Traffic across the bridge will be restricted to one lane during the construction. The work is being done by CPM Constructors of Freeport and is expected to be finished by November 14th.
