Maine Grants Part C FFY 2024 Application
Comments sought on Maine's IDEA Part C Application.
The Maine DOE (Child Development Services- Early Intervention for ME) is seeking comments from the public on its annual application for federal funds under Part C of the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), which covers early intervention services for infants and toddlers with developmental delays and / or suspected disabilities from birth to their third birthday.
The application, which covers Maine fiscal year 2025 (starting July 1, 2024) is posted on the Maine DOE's webpage at part C application. The part C budget is estimated/projected on the basis of Maine's award for the State's current award, pending the State's receipt of the finalized federal award for the coming year. Both documents will be posted from March 22, 2024, through May 22, 2024.
Notice for Destruction of Records: To all children/families of Child Development Services whose services were terminated prior to June 30, 2017. Child Development Services regional offices may have Early Intervention and/or Special Education Records in their possession for those children and will destroy such records after September 1, 2024.
Annual Child Find Notice: Child Development Services is required to provide an annual public notice to parents of children birth-school age five who reside in the State of Maine regarding Child Find responsibilities and is required to conduct Child Find activities for children birth-school age five who may be eligible for special education services. "Child Find" refers to the process of locating, identifying, and evaluating children with disabilities to ensure that they receive services to which they are entitled.
