Construction

Construction is one of the largest sectors in Maine and responsible for significant job growth since 2017, Much of the growth comes from residential development, however public clients such as state and local governments comprise a large portion of demand.  This industry has been and continues to be severely disrupted but increased volatility in demand, costs of materials and labor constraints.

ASSOCIATED GENERAL CONTRACTORS OF MAINE (ACG)
ACG led the charge in Maine for contractors on legislative policy, regulatory reform, business networking and workforce development. AGC is dedicated to ensuring a sound and healthy construction industry and providing the public with an assurance of the skill, responsibility and integrity of AGC-member firms.

Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Maine
The Home Builders and Remodelers Association of Maine (HBRAME) is a not-for-profit trade association affiliated with the National Association of Home Builders [NAHB], a national association of 150,000 members representing the residential construction industry across the United States. They are the only trade association in Maine representing the residential construction industry that offers nationally recognized Certification Programs and federally approved apprenticeship and pre-apprenticeship training programs in the construction trades.

National Association of Women in Construction
NAWIC was formed in 1955 with the core purpose of enhancing the success of women in the construction industry. In 1979, Maine Chapter 276 was formed with 34 members, bringing that purpose to Maine. Today there are two chapters in the state, covering Kittery to Presque Isle with the Maine Chapter serving central and southern Maine.

Grants and Loans

Maine Apprenticeship Program (MAP): Statewide
MAP assists in setting up structured yet flexible training programs that can help meet the specific needs of Maine employers with on-the-job learning and related classroom instruction.  Sponsors receive assistance developing their program and identifying related instruction providers, are reimbursed for up to 50% of the cost of classroom instruction and register the program for federal purposes.
