Grant Submission Instructions
The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) is seeking applications for the 2026 Maine Infrastructure Adaptation Fund (MIAF). The purpose of this program is to enable Municipalities, Tribal Governments, and Infrastructure Districts to adapt existing critical infrastructure to reduce vulnerability to climate change impacts, such as sea level rise, increased precipitation, and other related climate risks, and provide increasing resilience.
Application Process
To apply, applicants must use the template application document at the end of this section. Applicants can submit three applications per entity and must submit a separate application for each project. The application(s) will be scored by an inter-agency review team, which will judge the merits of the application(s) received in accordance with the project rating criteria.
Applications must be received by May 11, 2026, at 11:59 pm EST. Applications received after the deadline will be ineligible for award consideration. Applications are to be submitted via email through the Adaptation inbox. Only applications received by email will be considered.
Applicants are to insert the following into the subject line of their email: “2026 Maine Infrastructure Adaptation Fund RFA Submission - [Insert Entity Name].” Applicants should submit their application as a PDF file with the file name as: “[Insert Entity Name] 2026 Maine Infrastructure Adaptation Fund Application#.PDF”. Once an application is submitted via email, applicants can expect to receive confirmation of receipt within one week.
