Work Begins on I-295 Northbound Lanes Between Portland and Freeport

On Sunday night, May 9th at 8:00 p.m., MaineDOT will begin work onthe northbound lanes of I-295 between the Portland-Falmouth line and Freeport. After some initial preparation work, overnight paving will be done from 8:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Saturday to Friday through October. Single-lane closures will occur overnight Saturday through Friday. Due to heavier northbound traffic volume on Fridays, work will end Friday mornings and resume Saturday evenings at 8:00 p.m.

Crews will be working along the right shoulder Monday through Thursday but two lanes of traffic will remain open during daytime hours, 6:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. Also, guardrail work will restrict lane use in the southbound lanes during these time frames.

Speed limits will be reduced to 55 miles per hour through the work zone. MaineDOT asks drivers to please pay attention to their driving when traveling through work zones, watch for signs and to be careful not to follow vehicles too closely.
