The Bangor water district has a water main break on Union Street at 15th Street. Currently the lane going from downtown toward the airport is closed while they try to locate the break.
It now appears that the break is on the other side of the road heading from Union Street airport direction toward downtown and has traveled underground to the other side of the street. As they dig to chase the water to is origin, the roadway will be closed in 1 direction at a time.
It is advised that you avoid this area all together if possible and use Hammond street or I-395. Please understand this has nothing to do with the MaineDOT bridge replacement project but unfortunately has happened in the vicinity of our work area. The water district will be setting up traffic detours.
