Waldo Community Action Partners Steps Up, Assists Transit Customers
WCAP and MaineDOT are working to fill the void left after Downeast Community Partners ended transit service.

(AUGUSTA – October 1, 2025) – Hancock and Washington county residents who depended upon Downeast Community Partners for transit will soon have a new option. Waldo Community Action Partners (WCAP) – in collaboration with the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) – will soon fill the void created by DCP’s termination of transit services.

WCAP expects to communicate with DCP’s former riders soon and is in the process of hiring additional drivers and associated staff to provide service. With DCP’s official end of services set to occur October 1, a lag in transit options will take place while WCAP onboards new employees.

The DCP Transit telephone number (207-664-0012) is still in use, and passengers with questions about the service are urged to call. Passengers can also provide contact information in order to stay updated regarding the new service.
