Fort Kent ? Due to ongoing construction, the Fort Kent International Bridge will be limiting passage of oversized vehicles. Contractor activities in May, June and July involve booth and canopy construction which severely limits the maneuverability of oversized vehicles attempting to cross. Large trucks are encouraged to use alternate routes including the border crossing at Madawaska.
June 16th through July 13th: Vehicles measuring 9ft wide by 12 ft. high and 22 ft. long will not be allowed on the bridge. This is both inbound and outbound traffic.
July 15th through July 28th: Vehicles entering the United States are limited to those smaller than 9 ft. wide by 12 ft. high and 22 ft. long. Vehicles leaving the United States to enter Canada must be shorter than 49 ft.
The new bridge will be fully open to traffic by July 31st. There will be no construction activity from August 8th to August 24th while the World Acadian Congress is under way.
