MaineDOT Announces Temporary Closures for Cousins River Bridge
Drivers should plan for delays.
YARMOUTH/FREEPORT – March 2, 2026 — The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) will be limiting traffic on US Route 1 between 8 P.M. and 6:00 A.M. on March 4 and March 10 to install new bridge girders. During this time, there will be a total of four separate 25-minute road closures with two road closures each night.
Flaggers will be used to navigate traffic through the project site and additional light towers will be on site for increased visibility during night operations. Traffic on I-295 will not be affected by this project.
The contractor on this project is CPM Constructors of Freeport, Maine. The contract amount is $7,864,531.48.
