Upcoming Route 1 Long Term Lane Closure on Cousins River Bridge

YARMOUTH/FREEPORT-The Maine Department of Transportation will be limiting traffic on US Route 1 to one lane of alternating traffic from October 6, 2025 to May 15, 2026. Flaggers and temporary traffic signals will be used to navigate traffic through the project site. Traffic on I-295 will not be affected by this project. 

Crews will be replacing the existing US Route 1 Cousins River Bridge while one-lane of alternating traffic will be maintained on the newly constructed phase 1 bridge. The contractor on this project is CPM Constructors of Freeport, Maine. The contract amount is $7,864,531.48.
