Kittery ? The Sarah Mildred Long Bridge connecting Kittery, ME and Portsmouth, NH, will be closing nightly for safety repairs starting the night of July 5th, with completion slated for August 1st. Crews will be installing prefabricated steel barriers as a supplemental safety measure due to the corroded guardrail along the length of the bridge. The center lift span will have a temporary guardrail installed that will be mounted on steel posts.
Detour signs and message boards will guide motorists on either end of the bridge to the alternate routes.
This work, being performed by CPM Constructors of Freeport, will close the bridge to all traffic during the following days and times:
Monday: Beginning at 10pm, ending Tuesday at 5am
Tuesday: Beginning at 10pm, ending Wednesday at 5am
Wednesday: Beginning at 10pm, ending Thursday at 5am
Thursday: Beginning at 10pm, ending Friday at 5am
Friday: Beginning at 10pm, ending Saturday at 8am
Saturday: Beginning at 8pm, ending Sunday at 9am
Sunday: Beginning at 8pm, ending Monday at 5am
