Road reconstruction on Route 27 in Belgrade Village begins Tuesday, September 4th.
Normally, work will be allowed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. There may be times when the hours must be extended to 5:30 p.m. or Saturday work may be required. One lane of alternating traffic will be managed by flaggers so motorists should expect delays.
Beginning September 4th, the first two weeks of work will focus on drainage, beginning on the Great Pond side of the road. When completed on that side, crews will begin at the same location on the Long Pond side and move southerly until the drainage work is completed; likely in the second week of October.
The contractor will follow this same pattern as road reconstruction begins September 17th and continues, weather and temperatures permitting, until October 19th.
The week of October 29th, the entire road will be paved with a base coat for winter traffic. Once completed, work will continue as long as weather permits and may include curb installation at the catch basins, electrical work, stump chipping and sidewalk construction.
Remaining work will begin April 1, 2019 and may include sidewalk completion, lamp post installation and finish landscaping.
This $3.1 million contract was awarded to Pratt & Sons, Inc. of Mechanic Falls.
Area residents are invited to an informational meeting on Tuesday, September 4th where MaineDOT officials will answer questions regarding the project at the Center for All Seasons at 1 Center Drive in Belgrade Lakes from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
