Smithfield & Norridgewock ? Road construction will take place on Route 8 and Perkins Street in Smithfield and Norridgewock beginning on April 14th.
Work will begin on Route 8 in Smithfield beginning at the intersection of Island Lane and extend 7.3 miles to Route 2 in Norridgewock. Perkins Street will be will begin at Route 8 and extend 0.53 of a mile to Route 2.
One-way traffic through the work zones will be directed by flaggers.
Work will include culvert replacements, underdrain and catch basin installation, ditching, grinding of the existing pavement, roadway excavation, gravel placement, placement of new pavement, guardrail installation, curb replacement, water main installation and utility line replacement or transfer.
These improvements are necessary to make the road smoother and safer for the traveling public.
Pratt & Sons, Inc. of Mechanic Falls will perform this $10.4 million project.
