Hampden ? Crews are performing a full reconstruction of US Route 1A on North Main Street in Hampden until the end of November.
Starting on Monday, August 13th Route 1A will be closed to all thru traffic until August 20th. A culvert needs replacing in a deep gully located between Wheeldon Street and the R&K Variety Store.
The work zone is located approximately 250 ft. south of Mount View Drive, extending approximately one-half mile north.
Multiple detour signs and message boards will guide car traffic onto the Old County Road, while all truck traffic will be directed onto Route 202. All business in the area will be accessible by taking the marked detour routes around the work zone, which is approximately seven-tenths of a mile in length.
This culvert replacement project, contracted to Sitewerx Inc. of Hermon, is expected to be performed both day and night until its completion.
