Nighttime Paving will begin soon on Route 1 southbound in Brunswick

MaineDOT announced today that starting the week of May 17, construction crews will start placing signs alerting motorists to the upcoming night paving project on Route 1 southbound in Brunswick.

Crews will begin to remove sections of the old pavement along Route 1 southbound starting the week of May 24. The project begins at the Cooks Corner exit ramp, and continues south to Mill Street in Brunswick.

Due to the high volumes of traffic, all paving work will be done at night. Work hours will be 7 p.m. to 6 a.m., Sunday night through Thursday nights.

If the project goes as planned and there are no weather-related delays, the project is expected to be completed by July 2, 2010.

Pike Industries, Inc. is the contractor for this $1.8 million project.
