MaineDOT to Work on US Route 2
Drivers should plan for lane closures from 6 A.M. to 6 P.M.
CARTHAGE/WILTON/DIXFIELD – May 22, 2026 — Starting on June 1, the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) will begin work on US Route 2 for a pavement preservation project.
During the project, there will be daily lane closures Monday through Saturday from 6 A.M. to 6 P.M. Drivers should anticipate delays of up to 10 minutes.
The project location begins 0.02 miles west of the Carthage/Wilton town line, extends east 8.32 miles, and includes 0.05 miles on Route 4.
The project work will include pavement milling, an ultra-thin bonded wearing course, and safety improvements.
Work is expected to be completed by September 2026.
The contractor on this project is Pike Industries of Poland, Maine.
The contract amount is $3,727,850.14.
