MaineDOT to Work on Route 26

Drivers should plan for delays.

FALMOUTH/PORTLAND – April 14, 2026 —Starting on April 20, the Maine Department of Transportation will be working on Route 26 for a highway preservation project. 

There will be one-way alternating traffic controlled by flaggers between 6AM and 7PM up to 500 feet. Longer one-way flagger-controlled traffic closures will be conducted between 7PM and 6AM. The work begins at Lyseth Moore Drive in Portland and extends two miles north to the on and off ramps at Exit 55 on I-95 in West Falmouth. The project work will include full width milling and paving with drainage and safety improvements. The project is expected to be completed by August 2026.

The contractor on this project is Coastal Road Repair of Westbrook, Maine.

The contract amount is $2,556,101.90.
