MaineDOT to Start Highway Preservation Work in Portland
Drivers should plan for single lane traffic from 6PM to 6AM during the project.
PORTLAND – April 7, 2026 — The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) will begin highway preservation work in Portland on April 13. The project area begins at I-295 Exit 5B and ends at Stevens Avenue. The project area includes Route 22/Congress Street, West Commercial Street, and Fore River Parkway.
Work is expected to be completed in Fall 2026. The work on this project will include cold milling, re-paving of the roadway and pedestrian ADA improvements.
Two-way traffic will be maintained between 6AM to 6PM and single lane traffic will occur between 6PM and 6AM throughout the duration of the project.
The contractor on this project is Shaw Brothers of Gorham, Maine.
The contract amount is $5,451,327.00
