MaineDOT to Replace St. Mary’s Bridge in Van Buren
VAN BUREN – April 27, 2026 — Starting on May 4, the Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) will begin a bridge replacement of St. Mary’s Bridge over Violette Brook with approach repairs. Drivers will be detoured to Main Street in Van Buren. Drivers and pedestrians should follow the detour map and detour signs while on site.
Motorists should expect delays and use caution when traveling through the detour zone. The existing arch culvert will be replaced with an updated open span precast composite bridge deck and abutments.
The project is expected to be completed by October 2026.
The contractor on this project is BMB Construction of Holden, Maine.
The contract amount is $2,664,000.
