Motorists who utilize Route 4 in Turner should be aware of construction starting on Monday, June 27, on the bridge that carries Route 4 over the Nezinscot River in Turner.
Crews will be replacing the surface of the bridge, and in order to remove the top layer of asphalt, crews will narrow the traveling lanes to 11 feet in each direction, and remove the surface in segments. Once the surface is removed, crews will then repave the bridge. This wearing surface replacement project is a bridge maintenance project designed to protect the bridge deck and extend the life of the bridge.
Two-way traffic will be maintained at all times over the bridge, but motorists need to be aware of narrow lanes. Construction is slated to begin on June 27, and if the project proceeds as planned, it should be completed within ten weeks.
MaineDOT asks motorists to drive safely through the construction zone and obey posted speed limits.
