MaineDOT Announces Temporary Closures for Cousins River Bridge

Drivers should plan for delays.

YARMOUTH/FREEPORT – Feb.24, 2026 — The Maine Department of Transportation (MaineDOT) will be limiting traffic on US Route 1 between 8 P.M. and 6:00 A.M. starting on March 3 and possibly continuing on March 4 to install new bridge girders. During this time, there will be four separate 25-minute road closures.

Flaggers will be used to navigate traffic through the project site and additional light towers will be on site for increased visibility during night operations. Traffic on I-295 will not be affected by this project.

The contractor on this project is CPM Constructors of Freeport, Maine. The contract amount is $7,864,531.48.
