AUGUSTA - A Cape Cod native with deep experience in both journalism and public service, Andy brings decades of high-level communications expertise to MaineDOT. From working as a radio newscaster at age fifteen to covering the White House as a national television correspondent, Andy has spent his career telling important stories in compelling ways.
Before returning to New England, Andy served as communications director at Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, the world's busiest airport. In that role, he advised leadership on a wide range of issues and led the airports external and internal communications efforts. At MaineDOT, Andy leads a creative team that works across all channels to share the departments work and engage with the public. He also serves as the departments spokesperson and provides strategic communications counsel to agency leadership.
Andy began his career in journalism, becoming NPRs youngest affiliate News Director in his mid-twenties and a White House-based national TV correspondent in his mid-thirties. Over the years, hes flown into hurricanes, walked into forest fires, once pulled 9 Gs in an Air Force F16 jet, and he is currently writing a book on the intersection of communications and current events.
Now living in Owls Head with his partner Kathy and their dog Jib, Andy is the proud father of two adult sons.
His first day at MaineDOT was June 9th.
