FREEPORT, Maine ? Motorists traveling late night in Freeport on Wednesday and Thursday may need an alternate plan to enter or exit I-295 Northbound.
Tonight, repair crews will be closing the I-295 northbound Exit 22 off- and on- ramps (Mallett Drive) from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. to allow paving work to be completed on the highway near the exit. Drivers should use Exit 20 (Desert Road) or Exit 24 (Route One) to exit or enter I-295 Northbound.
Tomorrow night, the Exit 24 off- and on-ramps on I-295 Northbound will be closed from 10:00 p.m. to 2:00 a.m. to permit similar paving operations there. Motorists are advised to use Exit 22 or Exit 28 (Route One) to exit or enter I-295 Northbound.
Drivers on I-295 are advised to pay close attention to signage connected with the repair work especially signs indicating reduced speed zones. For more information, maps, and to sign up for email alerts, please go to mainedot.gov.
This effort is part of a substantial I-295 repair and improvement project that will be ongoing through the fall of this year. Roadway and bridge repair work has been structured to minimize the impact on motorists while improving the safety and enjoyment of traveling one of Maine?s most popular highways.
