I-95 Waterville Crash Update

An update from the Department of Public Safety:

Northbound traffic on Interstate 95 continues to be backed up in Waterville as crews begin work to remove the tractor trailer that has blocked the northbound side.

Troopers say it appears the truck?s driver ? 54 year old Paul Casona of Epping, NH was distracted and the truck struck the guardrails on both sides of the road and then jack-knifed on the KMD overpass.

The truck, which was hauling golf tees, was destroyed. It was enroute to Pride Manufacturing in Burnham. The driver was taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

A small amount of diesel fuel spilled and was cleaned by DEP and the Waterville Fire Department. Traffic diverted at the mile 127 exit is being allowed to cross Kennebec Memorial Drive and continue north on the Interstate.

Troopers hope the wreck will be removed by the evening commute.
