Starting Monday, June 17th, I-95 northbound from Island Falls to Oakfield will be closed. Motorists will be guided onto Route 2 for the approximately 6.5 mile detour route.
Crews will be rebuilding this stretch of I-95 northbound to minimize frost heaves.
The Route 2 detour is not expected to add significant time or miles for northbound motorists.
In addition, road work will take place approximately 1.5 miles north of the Oakfield exit, which will require temporary lane closures.
By utilizing a full closure of I-95 northbound from Island Falls to Oakfield, the project will take less time and be less expensive.
Lane Construction was chosen as the contractor for this $13.8 million project.
Motorists are advised to please obey speed limits when traveling the detour route.
