Fairfield/Benton- The northbound on-ramp at Exit 133 will be closed for two and a half years beginning December 8th. Commuters who would use Exit 133 will be detoured to Exit 132 via Routes 201 and 139. Wide loads will be restricted from Exit 132 and Exit 138 both northbound and southbound.
Reconstruction of the Clinton A. Clauson Bridge between the towns of Fairfield and Benton began this October. The two and a half year effort involves replacing the northbound and southbound bridge decks on I-95 as well as the deck of a smaller bridge just south of the Clauson Bridge that spans the Pan Am Railways track.
Motorists will be utilizing crossovers and should allow extra time as speed limits will be lowered to 40 MPH northbound and 50 MPH southbound. Traffic will be reduced from two lanes in each direction to one lane in each direction. Fines are doubled in this work zone.
