I-295 Northbound Exit 15 is Closed

YARMOUTH. MaineDOT is reminding drivers that highway crews have installed barricades at Interstate 295?s north bound Exit 15 signaling that improvements at this busy interchange have begun in earnest.

Closing the exit was required In order to work safely and efficiently as crews construct a new north bound on-ramp at Exit 15.

Motorists headed for U.S. Route 1 in Yarmouth are advised to leave themselves a little extra time to get to their destinations. MaineDOT recommends using I-295 north bound Exit 10 to Bucknam Road and Route 1 in Falmouth or Exit 17 to Route 1 in Yarmouth as alternatives. Temporary traffic signals installed at those locations will ensure that motorists can safely enter and exit Route 1.

I-295 south bound?s Exit 15 off-ramp will remain open throughout the project.

While all highway construction work is weather dependent, MaineDOT plans to reopen north bound Exit 15 in late June.

The Yarmouth project also includes moving the location of the south bound on-ramp and the construction of a new Park & Ride Commuter Lot nearby.

MaineDOT estimates that all of the interchange improvements will be completed, weather permitting, by November.
