Crews are set to begin construction on Tuesday, July 5 on the Riverside Street and Warren Avenue intersection in Portland.
Crews will be improving the busy intersection with roadway widening, additional lanes, new sidewalks, improved signal lights and new guardrail. Over 22,000 vehicles a day utilize the intersection.
Despite the construction, crews will maintain two-way traffic at all times during the day at the intersection, but at times there will be lane closures and lane shifting in order to accommodate the construction. There will also be occasional uneven lanes as crews must remove pavement before repaving. There may be some night work at times when crews are removing pavement.
If construction proceeds as planned, work is expected to be completed by mid-November. Peters Construction, Inc of Buxton is the contractor for the $1.825 million project.
Motorists should be aware of raised manholes and catch basin covers and driver cautiously through any work zone.
